Make Lunch Count Day 2020
Monday, April 13 will be Make Lunch Count Day, and we had an idea.
The day was originally about encouraging people to get away from their desks for lunch. Preferably by going out with coworkers to recharge. TGI Fridays created it in 2016.
And while that’s still a worthwhile idea & goal, it’s not so relevant this year.
For one thing, lots of people aren’t working & even those who are working can’t get too close to their coworkers. And of course there’s no dining in at restaurants in states with stay-at-home orders (that’s most of them!).
So how to celebrate this year?
Celebrating Make Lunch Count Day in the age of physical distancing
How about making lunch count for those restaurants, food trucks, bakeries, etc. that are still open for carry-out & delivery?
Order lunch from a local eatery. They’re all hurting, even though a lot of people are trying to support them. Encourage your co-workers, friends, & family to do the same.
Even better, make lunch count for all the healthcare workers battling this pandemic every single day. When you order your lunch, order some extra food for delivery to your local hospital or other health center. They sure could use it! Again, encourage your network to do the same.
Can you think of any other ways to Make Lunch Count Day special this year?
