Celebrate Husband Appreciation Day The Third Saturday in April
It’s time to appreciate your husband! Yes, popular culture makes fun of bumbling husbands and fathers. But put that aside for Husband Appreciation Day and think about all the reasons (big and small) you really do appreciate your husband.
We’re not sure who started Husband Appreciation Day, but does it really matter? It’s a sweet idea to have a day to show your other half that you really do appreciate him, even if you don’t always show it.
And make it a good one. Something he’ll have to top when Wife Appreciation Day rolls around in September.
What Does Your Husband Do That You Appreciate?
Does he:
- Make your morning coffee
- Make breakfast
- Mow the lawn
- Rake the leaves
- Take out the trash
- Fix leaky toilets and faucets
- Do laundry
- Fold laundry
- Help with the cooking
- Work hard every day to provide for you and your family (this is always worthy of appreciation, even if you also have a job and even if you’re the primary breadwinner)
Now not every husband necessarily does all of these things. And many probably do plenty of other things.
So take a few moments to really think about all the things your husband does that you appreciate.

Ideas For Celebrating Husband Appreciation Day
Well first of all, you’re just going to have to make it all about him!
So consider:
- Helping him with chores he normally does himself (see the above list for ideas!)
- Letting him skip chores entirely for this one day
- Letting him decide what to watch on TV for the night
- Letting him pick the movie you go see
- Cooking him his favorite meal. Or buying him his favorite meal.
- Having a real date night (admit it, you probably haven’t had one in years!)
- Planning a whole weekend away, and make it Husband Appreciation Weekend!
What’s his favorite hobby? Get him something to make it more enjoyable. Or create a personalized gift basket completely related to it.
For the sports fan, maybe:
- Game-day snacks
- A jersey (his favorite player’s of course)
- Personalized beer mug for enjoying a cold one in front of the game
Is cooking/grilling his thing? Depending on what he likes to cook, consider:
- Grill tray set
- Sushi kit
- Recipe holder
- Cast iron pan
- Cast iron press
- Bacon griller
- Spatula tongs
- Smoking platform
For the bartender, try:
- Beer making kit
- Beer glasses
- Craft beer tasting kit
- Cocktail making set
- Mason jar cocktail shaker
- Muddler and jigger set
For the fishing fanatic:
- A new fillet knife
- Knife sharpener, for keeping those fillet knives sharp
- A new fly rod (a true fly fisherman can never have too many!)
- Fishing net
- Multitool
- Reel
And finally, resolve not to take your husband for granted quite so often. When we get into a daily routine it’s really easy to do. But it’s always worth remembering how much we appreciate those we love, including our bumbling husbands! ;)
