Celebrate No Pants Subway Ride Day in January
So … every January thousands of people around the world celebrate No Pants Subway Ride Day.
It’s only purpose, as far as we can tell is to have fun. And possibly promote Improv Everywhere a bit.
Improv Everywhere stages “missions” to cause “scenes of chaos and joy in public places.”
Pantsless subway riders would certainly seem to fit into that mission!
This silly event started way back in 2002 in New York City with 7 pantsless men who got on the same train at 7 different stops.
It has grown every year since. Tens of thousands of pantsless passengers rode trains in more than 60 cities the world over at the 13th annual event in 2014.
Over the years it’s been filmed by various news and other television shows. After arrests in New York at the fifth annual event, it got worldwide news coverage and even made it into David Letterman’s monologue.
Want to know more? Check out Improv Everywhere’s history of the events.
We’re betting the 2019 event will be another big one around the world.
