Celebrate Panic Day Every March 9
If you’re feeling overworked, overwhelmed, and out of control, today’s your day. It’s Panic Day, a day to just give in to the need to panic.
Well, for a little while anyway.
Because it’s also Get Over It Day. So after you panic, it’ll be time to just get over it!
Sounds like a plan to us. 🙂
But back to Panic Day.
It was created by Tom Roy of Wellcat.com.
Tom and his wife Ruth have created quite a few fun and whimsical holidays over the years. Panic Day is apparently one of his earliest creations.
And we think it’s quite a good one. We’re usually told not to panic when things go wrong. But sometimes a little short-term panic can help you view your problems in a new way. As long as you don’t let panic take over completely, why not just give in for a few moments?
But if you don’t have anything to panic about, or you miss the day, don’t panic about it! You’ll have another chance on International Panic Day, coming up on June 18.

Celebrating Panic Day
We’ll defer to the day’s founder for how to celebrate. According to the Roys, you should “Run around all day in a panic, telling others you can’t handle it anymore.”
They also provide an entertaining list of the Top 20 way to get the most out of Panic Day.
We especially like #18: Stand on one foot in the middle of a large mall, waving your arms up and down and proclaim “I’m a bad bad birdie, I’m a bad bad birdie.”

Alternatively, you could just stay in bed all day, avoiding anything that might make you panic. Invite your pet to join you and have a thoroughly stress-free day.
Note: This day is not making fun of actual medical conditions, like agoraphobia or other panic disorders. It’s just a fun day to recognize that we get overwhelmed and sometimes it’s ok just feel it.
